What does it take to get the perfect Nintendo Switch?
It’s not like you have much of a choice right now; the system is supply-constrained to the point that it’s unlikely you would be able to return your console and get another one if you found an issue with your purchase. The problem is that many things can go wrong, which is leading to fans online comparing their systems to see who was able to get the “perfect” Switch.
So how does one know if they have this mythical, ideal Switch?
You want to get a system that doesn’t have any issues with doesn’t have any stuck or dead pixels. The latter happens with some regularity on just about any piece of electronics that has a screen, and there’s next to nothing you can do to check either of the situations before you take home a system.
“Small numbers of stuck or dead pixels are a characteristic of LCD screens,” the company said in a statement, as reported by Ars Technica. “These are normal and should not be considered a defect.”
So good luck.
You want to get a system scratches on the system’s screen. You’ll also want to be careful when putting the system into the dock or taking it out, because just being too enthusiastic can lead to annoying damage on the screen. Having a slightly bent dock isn’t the end of the world, but it does mean that you’ll want to install a screen protector or even just use the hardware with a bit more caution.
But which screen protector should you use? The Hori screen protector run into problems if you dock the system soon after applying it. Give it a few hours to let everything dry completely and settle before allowing the system to heat up.
Or maybe you get lucky and This guide had a great rundown of potential issues, along with good advice on how to avoid them.
The quest for “perfect” Nintendo hardware isn’t new, after all.
