    Do you use `pip search`? If so, what do you use it for, & why do you use it vs. searching on ? I was surprised to learn today that the search endpoint of PyPI's legacy XML-RPC API receives the most traffic, with 85.5 million requests in the last 3 months.

    This excellent tip from is now reliably implemented. Classifiers beginning with “Private ::” are now disallowed from even existing in PyPI’s database.

    Here's a tip I haven't seen before: use an invalid (non-existent) classifier like: Private :: Do Not Upload in your setup​.py file to ensure you don't accidentally upload a private package to PyPI.

    I made a thing: It shows what versions of Python the top 360 packages on support, based on classifiers. E.g., there's only one package that supports Python 3.8, but there's dozens that still support 2.6, which is five years past it's end-of-life!
