A second suspect was not seen by the owner of Avanti Jewelers, who was tied up during the Aug. 3 robbery.
According to police, the suspect entered the store at 1200 Pacific Coast Highway and pulled out what was believed to be a small-caliber machine gun.
The owner, who was not hurt, was taken to the rear of the business. The robber then ordered the victim to kneel, covered his face and bound his hands and feet with duct tape before pushing him to the floor face down.
While the robber searched the store, police said, he continuously yelled, “Turn around, don’t look at me.”
The victim told police he heard another person enter the store and ransack it. The assailants ran off with $500 in cash and several wedding bands and gold chains.
Anyone with any information about the suspects should call Detective Michael Frilot at 310-318-0332 or e-mail him at [email protected].
