On a day when their defense struggled to get stops against a dominant Los Angeles Rams offense, the 49ers couldn't afford many mistakes when they had the ball.
But San Francisco failed to score on its opening three drives, which contributed heavily to digging itself a 21-0 hole in the first half and an eventual 42-26 loss on Sunday at Levi's Stadium.
On the second of those possessions, the 49ers successfully had matriculated the ball into Rams territory before receiver Jauan Jennings surrendered a fumble at the end of a catch-and-run. Los Angeles recovered the fumble and proceeded to score a touchdown on the other end.
"It's a tough one. Just super tough. I take it very hard on myself," Jennings told reporters after the game. The veteran wideout then was asked how he will block out that error going forward.
"You won't see another fumble, how about that?" Jennings replied.
Sunday's fumble was Jennings' first of the 2025 NFL season and the fourth of his five-year career. It's not an overly concerning amount, but the 49ers certainly wouldn't mind if Jennings completely eradicates that issue moving forward.

As a team, San Francisco now has lost five fumbles on the year in 10 games -- which ranks in the bottom third in the NFL -- so it's an area where the group as a whole could improve.
Perhaps coach Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers will put some extra focus into taking care of the ball during practice this week, as they prepare to face another NFC West foe in the Arizona Cardinals in Week 11.
