Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has withdrawn from the Argentina squad with membrane swelling in his right knee.
The midfielder started his side’s World Cup qualifying win against Venezuela on Saturday morning before being substituted for Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister in the 78th minute. The national team confirmed later in the afternoon that the 24-year-old has synovitis, a swelling of the synovial membrane, with a statement including a photo of Fernandez with strapping on that knee.
