PSG’s Desire Doue set for ‘several weeks’ out with thigh injury

The France international was visibly emotional as he was replaced 63 minutes into the Ligue 1 fixture.

His injury comes before a busy run of fixtures for PSG, with Luis Enrique’s side facing Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League league phase and second-place Monaco in Ligue 1 across November.

Doue has provided three goals and three assists in eight appearances in all competitions this season either side of a month on the sidelines with a right calf injury sustained on international duty.

He picked up the calf injury during France’s victory over Ukraine in September, with team-mate Ousmane Dembele also sustaining an injury during the game. PSG described the injuries as “serious and avoidable”, forcing France head coach Didier Deschamps to defend the national team’s handling of the two players’ fitness.

Doue provided 16 goals and 16 assists in 61 appearances in all competitions for PSG last season — including two goals and an assist in the Champions League final victory over Inter Milan as the French champions won the competition for the first time.

PSG also won the Ligue 1 title and Coupe de France, and Doue was named the Champions League young player of the season and finished 14th in the Ballon d’Or rankings.
