Goo Goo Dolls’ hit “Iris,” enlisted the band to soundtrack the first dance at her wedding this past weekend.
Goo Goo Dolls revealed their wedding band duties on Instagram — “an absolute pleasure,” they wrote — posting a photo of Lovato and husband Jordan “Jutes” Lutes dancing together while they performed onstage.

“It was surreal,” Lovato later told Vogue of the “Iris” performance. “This was a pinch-us moment. It’s our favorite song and has so much meaning to both of us.” Lovato and Lutes were married Sunday, May 25, in Santa Barbara, California.
Lovato has long been a fan of the 1998 hit, even recruiting Goo Goo Dolls singer John Rzeznik to perform “Iris” onstage with her during a New York concert in 2022; Lovato had previously covered the song solo during that tour, mashing it up with her own “4 EVER 4 Me.”
Coincidentally, guests of Lovato’s wedding weren’t the only ones to hear “Iris” live this month: The previous Sunday, Goo Goo Dolls also appeared on American Idol to perform the track alongside contestant Mattie Pruitt:
Over 25 years after the release of “Iris,” the track remains a favorite of a younger generation of artists, with everyone from Taylor Swift to onstage at a Billy Joel concert in the Goo Goo Dolls’ native Buffalo, New York.
