‘SNL’: Nikki Glaser’s Family Karaoke Night Gets Real Awkward
One family’s odd dynamics were put on display during Nikki Glaser takes the stage with her brother and father.
Siblings Becky (Glaser) are Petey (Tommy Brennan) are first up as their parents (Andrew Dismukes, Ashley Padilla) watch alongside Pete’s new girlfriend, Katie (Sarah Sherman).
“This is for my little brother. Love you, buddy,” Becky says, as Petey returns the sentiment.
But then the Goo Goo Dolls’ 1998 song “Iris” begins to play, and the two get uncomfortably close.
“And I’d give up forever to touch you,” Petey sings, with his hand on her hip.
“You’re the closest to heaven that I’ll ever be, and I don’t want to go home right now,” Becky replies.
Katie is shocked, while their parents cheer them on as if it’s a normal occurrence.
Their next song wasn’t any less weird.
“I’ll make love to you like want me to, and I’ll hold you tight all through the night,” they sing together as the DJ (Kenan Thompson) plays Boyz II Men‘s 1994 song “I’ll Make Love To You.”
When Katie objects, the music cuts out and Becky’s parents take offense. But after Becky reveals some interesting things about her past—sharing a bed with Petey until she was 17—she offers to switch things up.
With her dad on stage, the song is now “Too Close” by Next, and the subject is “grinding.”
This time, Katie is about to leave. But Petey convinces her to join him.

His choice of tune is Randy Newman’s decidedly non-sexual “You’ve Got a Friend In Me,” during which he pats her on the head.
“You feel like family already, sis,” Becky says, jumping back on stage and kissing Katie on the mouth.
