NOT only were kids at one school told to stay home for a snow day but the homework sent out by the headteacher ordered them to have fun.
The dream wish-list was compiled by head Roy James who made sure his pupils and parents made full use of the day off to ‘treasure the memories’ and have fun.

Mr James, head of Ysgol y Bedol primary school in Garnant, South Wales, penned the homework mission as school shut for the day on Friday listing nine things they could do in an email to parents.
With strict instructions to ‘wear warm clothing’ and ‘be safe’, children were also told to ‘enjoy playing in the snow’, ‘make snow angels’ and ‘throw some snowballs SAFELY’, just like other snow-related day off ideas.
Mr James, who has been a teacher for 30 years, said: “There will only be so many snow days in a pupil’s childhood and it’s important that they get out there and experience nature and the great outdoors.
“One parent told me that she used the day to teach her son some maths by going out to play in the snow and showing him a thermometer and introducing minus numbers to him.

“It’s all about getting children to experience the outdoors and for them to learn that it can be fun. You get children these days spending a lot of time inside and looking at screens.”
Parents shared their delight responding on social media to the fun mission.
Tracy Dixon posted on the school Facebook: “I love this. Thank you.” While Leena Evans posted: “Esme enjoyed reading it with a giggle.”
Another parent, Emma Williams, needed little persuading in helping her children complete their homework posting pics of their homework achievements on Twitter.

She said: “We had a lovely time today, the four of us, and the snow of course. Although not as much snow as we expected we wanted to make sure we enjoyed our homework this week. Mr James wanted the children to have fun, so that is what we did. We also built a snow robot.”
Mr James added: “The response has been quite positive and we really want to thank the parents.”

Former policeman, Paul Herdman, also tweeted: “Fair play. This is the way a school should approach rare snow days.”
Hundreds shared the post online. Kerry Pooley responded on Facebook saying: “Great advice Mr James well done Sir” and Sharon Harvey showed her delight with: “Best head! Fab advice Roy!”
The school was set to be again Monday as others around the country listed closures.
