
A TEENAGE cyclist has been seriously injured in a horrific crash involving a car and an e-bike.
The serious incident took place on the R680 Cork Road in Waterford City shortly before 8pm this evening.
The cyclist, an 18-year-old man, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford with serious injuries.
The motorist, an adult male, was assessed at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.
The Cork Road has been closed by gardai following the crash.
A technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators is due to take place.

Gardai confirmed that local diversions are currently in place.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash has been urged to come forward.
A spokesperson said: “Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with camera footage, including motorists with dash-cam footage from the area at the time, is asked to provide it to investigating Gardai.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Waterford Garda Station on (051) 305300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”

It comes after colliding with a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV in Louth.
They were named by Gardai as as Alan McCluskey, 23, from Drumconrath, Co Scotland.
The devastating crash happened shortly after 9pm on Saturday night on a twisty stretch of road at Gibstown, along the old Ardee Road into Dundalk, Co Louth, in terrible weather conditions.
A sixth person who was in the Golf managed to escape the vehicle, but was last night seriously injured in hospital.
The couple travelling in the Land Cruiser, who are in their 20s, were also both take to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda but do not have life-threatening injuries.
LIMERICK CRASH
First responders were extremely shocked and horrified by the carnage they witnessed when they arrived at the scene.
By the time they got there all the victims had died.
Separately, a man has tragically passed away following a fatal road traffic collision in Co Limerick earlier this evening.
The shocking crash, involving a motorcyclist and a car, occurred on the R519 at Ballykevin near Kilmeedy.
Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after the alarm was raised at around 4pm.

The motorcyclist, a male in his 50s, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has since been taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick.
