Re: HTTP version numbers returned by proxies

    I understand there is an RFC on this - any pointers would be 
    appreciated, we are trying to redesign our cache.  Supporting HTTP/1.1 
    and 1.0 properly seems difficult.

There are references from RFC2616, section 3.1, to this document.
Perhaps these should be marked as normative; certainly, a proxy
implemention that violates RFC2145 is non-compliant in any reasonable
sense of the word.
