Benefits of Becoming a Digital Media Friendly Texas Certified Community
The DMFTX program takes a multi-pronged approach to set communities up for success in the following ways:
- Attract business opportunities. First and foremost, the program is meant to show Digital Media stakeholders that your community is not just interested and able to attract their business, but that it’s a forward-thinking community a step ahead of the rest. These industries bring with them highly-skilled and highly-paid jobs that can sometimes work from anywhere with remote/hybrid positions.
- Cultivate your Digital Media community. By reaching out and making hyper-local connections with existing Digital Media stakeholders and resources, you not only surface existing contacts but also attract new ones in order to come together and chart a digital path forward that is best for your unique municipality.
- Educate residents about Digital Media. Digital literacy varies widely from person to person in any given community—that’s an exciting opportunity! By showing your entire community the importance of Digital Media industries in almost every aspect of life, you help each Texan close the digital divide and prepare everyone for a seat at the table of the future.
- Join a network of forward-thinking communities. The program also connects community liaisons with their statewide peers to brainstorm new ideas, exchange potential solutions to challenges, and share success stories!
Certification Steps (Overview)
The DMFTX program has several certification steps to ensure our community contacts are well-equipped to handle questions from Digital Media professionals while understanding their unique business needs. Please see a broad overview of the steps below:
- Establish an official Digital Media liaison within the community who works for the municipality, EDC, CVB, Chamber, or similar entity.
- Attend a Texas Film Commission-sponsored Digital Media Friendly Texas community workshop. Click here to see any upcoming workshops currently scheduled.
- Register the minimum number of Digital Media resources (companies, crew, vendors, coworking spaces, or organizations) in the Texas Production Directory (TPD) based in your community.
- Create a Digital Media Committee made up of a minimum of three local animation, VFX, video game, or XR industry stakeholders that will meet with some form of regularity. The committee will have ongoing objectives, and the Digital Media liaison will report progress to the Texas Film Commission.
