One of anime’s most popular series, One-Punch Man, is now on Netflix

One-Punch Man has become one of the most popular anime series in recent years, and it’s finally able to stream on Netflix. One-Punch Man follows an unlikely looking superhero, named Saitama, who boasts incredible strength and can’t find anyone able to match his power. The show, which is largely a parody of the current superhero phenomenon pop culture is obsessed with, gained notoriety in-between October 2015 and the summer of 2016. The first season ran between October and December 2015 in Japan and was brought over in the summer of 2016 for Western audiences. The series started out as a web comic in 2009 — by an author who simply goes by the name One — and is currently ongoing. Netflix bringing One-Punch Man to Western audiences is a big step for the streaming service. CEO Reed...

Nathan Drake won’t appear in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, the upcoming Uncharted side story starring Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross, won’t feature an appearance from series protagonist Nathan Drake, according to a preview of the game on the PlayStation Blog. “We’re not going to touch on Nathan Drake in this, at all,” said Kurt Margenau, game director on The Lost Legacy. That approach makes sense for The Lost Legacy, which developer Naughty Dog is pitching as a stand-alone tale in the Uncharted universe. The game spotlights two women whom we’ve only gotten to know in terms of how they relate to Nathan Drake. The Lost Legacy focuses on Chloe’s own treasure hunt: her search for an Indian artifact called the Tusk of Ganesh. She enlists the help of Nadine, who is recently unemployed — her mercenary company, Shoreline, has...

Shrouded Shrine quest in the Typhlo Ruins

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild occasionally hides shrines inside locales that you must explore to find the shrine hidden within. Just north of The Lost Woods is a small forest surrounded by a moat and called the Typhlo Ruins. Upon entering the forest, you’ll notice it’s drenched in darkness. Nintendo via Polygon The entrance to The Shrouded Shrine quest in the Typhlo Ruins Enter the darkness, and a voice will challenge you to complete the Shrouded Shrine quest. Outside of the few lit torches, Luminous Stones and glowing mushrooms, there is zero light inside this forest. You can figure out the path through the forest with our video or with the screenshots below. HOW TO BEAT THE SHROUDED SHRINE QUEST and find the Ketoh Wawai shrine N...

Samurai Jack’s new season feels a lot like Mad Max: Fury Road

It’s been 50 years since we last saw Jack, and he hasn’t aged a day. After the unexpected side effects of time travel finally catch up with him, guilt and hopelessness plague the once bright-eyed samurai. In the first season of Samurai Jack, he still retains an air of optimism, continuing to press on despite a world enslaved by Aku. But the season five return portends far more grit, weariness and darkness than all the previous ones combined, and we couldn’t be more ready for it. As engine grease and bullets replace white robes and swords, season five is painfully — though not awkwardly — evocative of Mad Max: Fury Road. Cartoon Network When you think of dry wastelands and hulking monster trucks, it’s hard not to immediately think of Mad Max. A nuclear disaster wipes...

Get to know the cast of Arms for Nintendo Switch

One of Nintendo’s more intriguing upcoming titles for the Switch is Arms, a one-on-one 3D fighting game that’s also an original intellectual property. In a pair of videos released today, Nintendo offers a primer on the Arms roster and its arsenal of weapons. In the video above, Nintendo walks us through the game’s five confirmed characters: Spring Man, Ribbon Girl, Ninjara, Master Mummy and Mechanica (who fills the role of little person in a giant mech suit). Each has their own special abilities in terms of punching, jumping and dodging. But it’s clear that even with a limited set of moves, thanks to the weapons in Arms, there will be plenty of variety in battle. In the video below, Nintendo walks through many of the game’s weapons, including the Toaster, Megaton, Sparky, Boomerang,...

Mass Effect: Andromeda guide: Classes, profiles and skill trees

Mass Effect: Andromeda might seem familiar at first, but a lot has changed since Mass Effect 3 arrived in 2012. Character builds are more open-ended and can be swapped in an instant with the profile system. Here’s a breakdown of the myriad choices you’ll face when building your Scott or Sara Ryder before you even start tackling the choices in the narrative. How profiles work Skill points are doled out in bulk upon leveling up. Finishing critical path story missions will provide experience points en masse and are the best way to earn them. Since Mass Effect: Andromeda allows players to return to their save file and the open world after the completion of the campaign, you shouldn’t be scared of running through it. Which leads us to the main overarching mechanic that...

Zelda: Breath of the Wild new games overwrite existing saves

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild offers a Hyrulian playground with seemingly endless opportunities for exploration. But if you’ve run out of things to do — or, say, your significant other wants to begin their own adventure — you might want to start a new game. Most Zelda games have allowed you to maintain multiple concurrent save files, so it would be reasonable to believe you could do the same here. Let this be a warning and a public service announcement: That is not the case with Breath of the Wild, whether on the Switch or the Wii U. If you’ve begun playing the game and you select “New Game” from the main menu, you’ll see this message pop up: Nintendo EPD/Nintendo The “New Game” prompt in the Switch version of Breath of the Wild. It’s possible to...

Who the heck is Iron Fist’s Bakuto?

Much like Luke Cage before it, Iron Fist make a significant addition to its cast in the second half of its season, with a character by the name of Bakuto. Played by Ramón Rodriguez, Bakuto is an unexpected source of help when Danny Rand and allies find themselves overwhelmed by a particular problem. The character himself is a deep pull from Marvel Comics continuity — to the extent that he is essentially an original creation in every way but name and affiliation. He was introduced in Daredevil #505 and (spoiler alert for a seven year old comic) killed in Daredevil #507. If you want to know more about where the inspiration came from for Bakuto, read on. Just note that this post will contain spoilers for the latter half of Iron Fist on Netflix, particularly beginning with the 10th...

Sombra’s voice actor doesn’t mind the haters, loves her character

The voice of Overwatch's Sombra knows that not everyone is a fan of the offense hacker, and she's completely OK with that. "I'm honored when they picked me," voice actor Carolina Ravassa told the audience at a SXSW talk this weekend. "I know every character, every superhero, is a person and has a little good and a little bad in them. "I know there are a lot of Sombra haters and that's OK." Ravassa joined Michael Chu, lead writer of Overwatch, on stage Saturday to discuss the creation and diversity of characters in Blizzard's popular team shooter. It was an interesting look into how characters bubble up from Blizzard's team of creators and how, once envisioned, they are brought to life. There are generally three reasons that characters come into Overwatch, Chu said. They can be created...

Rogue One’s alternate ending has been revealed

After months of rumors surrounding the extra footage and alternate takes in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, a new potential ending has been revealed, and it’s much sunnier than what actually happened to the Rebels. Original screenwriter Gary Whitta told Entertainment Weekly the original plan was to give Jyn Erso and the rest of the Rebel soldiers an escape route after they managed to steal the plans to the Death Star. “Jyn did survive,” Whitta said. “Cassian also survived. There were a lot of casualties on both sides, in both versions of the scripts.” Whitta added, however, that the team always wanted the movie to end with the entire team dying on Scarif after Grand Moff Tarkin blows up the Empire’s base. The reason they had an alternate version of the ending was due to logistics. Early...

Samurai Jack explores an unspeakable act in its darkest episode yet

For four seasons, Samurai Jack has pitted its titular character against a variety of enemies, including hordes of robots the hero has killed without question. The newest episode, however, finds Jack committing a horrendous act that has fans debating what it could all mean. [Warning: The following contains spoilers for the second episode of Samurai Jack’s fifth season.] In the second episode, Jack is cornered during a battle with the Daughters of Aku — seven women who were raised by their mother, the High Priestess, with the sole purpose of killing Jack. There’s a moment in the episode when Jack is hiding in a coffin, gripping the handle of his sword and looking around, fear plastered on his face. When he’s faced with the reality of kill or be killed, he attacks one of the women and...

Horizon Zero Dawn’s art book is as beautiful as the game

Horizon Zero Dawn captured people’s hearts long before its launch a few weeks ago. Shortly after Sony unveiled the game — in which a young woman hunts robot animals in a time where nature has reclaimed the “metal world” that humans built ages ago — at E3 2015, Amsterdam-based developer Guerrilla Games began receiving questions about Aloy, Horizon Zero Dawn’s fearless lead character. The people wanted to know how Aloy put together her clothes — so they could cosplay as the red-haired hunter. (Guerrilla quickly published a detailed cosplay guide.) Aloy’s look in the final game is similar to the way it was in that initial reveal, but her design changed greatly during the course of Horizon Zero Dawn’s development. You can see the evolution of Aloy’s character model, costume, hair and...

Pokémon developer staffing up for new console game

Pokémon series developer Game Freak is hiring, and that could signal a new title is on the way for the Nintendo Switch. Game Freak’s recent work includes Pokémon Sun and Moon, a pair of Nintendo 3DS titles that came out in November of last year. It’s been rumored that a third related game, possibly codenamed “Pokémon Stars,” is in the works for the Nintendo Switch. The positions, recently added to recruiting website Indeed, are conspicuous for a number of reasons. The first is for a “new title character modeler” to create “deformed toon-like person, monster, item models.” The successful applicant would have experience with Wii U or PlayStation Vita development. A second opening, for a character designer and also posted online, is a bit more on the nose. “An opportunity to be involved in...

Power Rangers’ post-credits scene, explained

Power Rangers has a post-credits scene — or a mid-credits scene to be more specific —and those who haven’t seen Mighty Morphin Power Rangers may be scratching their heads over what it means. [Warning: In case this wasn’t already clear, the following contains spoilers for the events of Power Rangers and the aforementioned mid-credits scene.] After the five Rangers manage to defeat the gigantic, evil Goldar and send his master — the sorceress Rita Repulsa, pictured above — flying into space following a climactic battle, the movie ends with most of the teens returning to detention, where they met each other at the very beginning of the movie. As they’re settling in, the teacher running the detention session calls out Tommy Oliver’s name. Tommy can’t be seen, but the camera does pan to a...

Iron Fist’s Stan Lee cameo has been discovered

It wouldn’t be a proper Marvel production without the appearance of Stan Lee in some capacity, and after binging Iron Fist all weekend, the comic publisher’s forefather has been discovered. In order to find Lee, you’ll have to wait until the very end. He doesn’t make his appearance until the thirteenth episode, and even then, it can be easy to miss if you’re not paying close attention. In the walkway of a building, there’s a poster for the NYPD. It’s a recruiting poster, with the saying “Be Proud” running down the side, and as you’ll notice, Lee is the face of the organization. Imgur A screenshot of the cameo was uploaded to Imgur yesterday. If you haven’t seen Daredevil, Jessica Jones or Luke Cage, the poster may seem like a random occurrence, but this has become...

The Walking Dead season 7 episode 14 recap: back with the Hilltop crew

This week The Walking Dead checks in with our Hilltop gang. Maggie, Sasha, and Enid are now joined by Daryl and Rosita. The Hilltop doesn't have a lot going on. The biggest story actually happens away from the walled town, as Sasha and Rosita plan their daring attack on Negan. It was another weak episode but we did have a theme of sorts: forgiveness, understanding, and absolution for two pairs of characters. The first pair is Maggie and Daryl. These two have not spoken since Glenn and Abraham were brutally murdered at the hands of Negan during the season premiere (and finale last season). Daryl seemingly avoids her, putting all the blame on himself for the outburst that got Glenn killed. He's barely even seen during the montage at the Hilltop, where we see Maggie and Sasha training...

What you need to know about Mass Effect: Andromeda’s overwhelming side missions

In Mass Effect: Andromeda, you have to learn to ignore distractions. Between the mysteries you’re about to uncover, the side missions already hanging over your head, the side missions you’ll be finding along the way and the tantalizing icons that are about to show up on your map, the main mission is going to seem less than interesting. And we’re here to tell you to ignore all of them for now. Listen: We get it. We have a side mission addiction that causes us a ton of problems playing open world games. And we’re easily distractible. If you, say, offer us a space monkey mascot (the "Monkeys in Space" Heleus assignment that you’ll get the first time you go back to the Nexus), we’re going to drop everything and find that space monkey. This got us into trouble, which is why we’re...

Fight as Zero Suit Samus in Street Fighter 5 with this mod

Modder Khaledantar666 secretly replaced Street Fighter 5's Cammy with Zero Suit Samus from Metroid. Let's see if anyone notices. Of course, Samus still has the same move-set, super-moves and etc. of Cammy, but it's still neat to see her beating ass galore in Street Fighter 5, the way she does in Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U. The Zero Suit Samus mod comes in two forms, one with all of the gear, and one without. The color palette is based on Samus' form within Nintendo's fighting game. Alas, this mod has been walled off behind the maker's Patreon, so those who wish to bring it into their PC version of the game need to visit that for instructions on what to pay and how to download. If Zero Suit Samus doesn't float your boat, maybe try out Tracer from Overwatch?
