I have a question about the tire spinning on the nose gear once c172 takes off.

The checklist in my flight school says to depress brake to stop the nose gear spinning to prevent any vibration or oscillation introduced on the airframe.

However, if I am mistaken, brake system only connects to the main gear on c172.

I am aware that there’s a shimmy damper for this but I thought the reason why pressing a brake is not only for tires on the main gear but also nose gear as well.

Is there any part that I am missing ?

Yep, no brakes on C172 nose gear, or any other small plane for that matter. Actually, nose gear brakes are extremely rare in aircraft in general.

Must be a mistake, or a "check" to see if anyone catches the oddity.

Nose wheel shimmy is a real problem, but it dampens down very quickly after the wheels come off the ground.
